The driver initiates the deceleration command by applying the brake. EBS then electronically transmits this command to all brake system components. Thanks to electronic actuation, response and build-up times in the brake cylinders are significantly reduced. The ECU also ensures precise modulation of the brake system during this process.
Result: A comfortable braking “feel” independent of load conditions and a much shorter braking distance.
The functions integrated into EBS ensure that both the driving stability and steering capability of the vehicle are maintained during braking. The Differential Slip Control (DSC) system automatically distributes the braking forces between the front and rear axles according to the respective load situation.
When towing a trailer, DSC also ensures optimal balance of the tractor-trailer combination. The towing vehicle and trailer brake their respective weight portions in the tractor-trailer combination. This keeps the connection force of the tractor-trailer combination low during braking. The integrated slip prevention regulation applies traction control.
Optimization of brake pad wear and ease of maintenance with EBS
WABCO’s EBS offers the option to continuously monitor and balance brake pad wear. This means that service and brake pad replacement intervals can be coordinated. Subsequently, all brake pads in the vehicle are replaced simultaneously.
The integration of durability brakes such as retarders and engine brakes also helps protect brake pads over longer operating periods. Comprehensive integrated diagnostic and monitoring functions enable the EBS to continuously self-monitor.
Relevant warnings immediately alert the driver if operational readiness is compromised. A diagnostic device or built-in diagnostic screen in the vehicle can be used to quickly and easily identify the causes. Maintenance and workshop times can also be significantly reduced thanks to the diagnostic system’s comprehensive test functions.[/woodmart_text_block][/vc_column][/vc_row]
